Daniel Teitelbaum, M.D.: Daniel Teitelbaum is a Professor of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Michigan. His laboratory is concerned with how the both the physiologic and immunologic changes of the intestinal mucosa. The laboratory studies how factors expressed by mucosal lymphocytes alter epithelial barrier function, growth and apoptosis. Another interest of the laboratory is in applying distractive forces to induce growth the intestine, as a way of treating patients with short bowel syndrome.
